Down the mountain
Founded in 2018 in the Piedmont of North Carolina, Down the Mountain is a three-piece Appalachian Rock band with Americana and Traditional Plus roots. In the spirit of Southeastern storytellers, Down the Mountain’s original tunes are full of the tall tales one hears over a bonfire and the kind of love that only happens in a small town. Down the Mountain is best consumed with a cold beer in hand.
Down the Mountain consists of Justin Thompson (Guitar, Vocals), Kenny Orsillo (Banjo, Harmonica, Vocals), and Danny Smith (Guitar, Keys, Vocals). In 2025, Down the Mountain released their first EP, Oh Grace, produced by Caleb Davis of His & Hers.
“All my life I’ve roamed around this rock that we call Earth
And I’ll keep on rambling ‘til they put me in the dirt
- Half My Life -”
“We only get so many moons and so many suns
Until we return to where we come from
- Heart Burn -”
